Hutt St Centre couldn’t do what we do without our generous supporters.
While we don’t like saying no to your generous offers for household goods, food, toiletries and personal items, at this time we are unable to accept donated items.
The redevelopment of our site is being undertaken to provide better services and facilities to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. During the redevelopment, which is currently in progress, we are juggling some temporary facilities, no storage capacity and from early / mid-November, there will be no publically-accessible reception area. As a result, our ability to accept donations has changed.
Due to these developments, we are unable to accept donated items until March 2021 (at the earliest). This timeframe may be extended to maintain COVID-19-Safe practices.
At this stage, we can’t confirm exactly when or what we’ll be able to accept next year. We’re also continually reviewing our COVID-19-Safe practices, and adapting our service delivery to reflect any changes, and to protect our donors, volunteers, staff and people who are experiencing homelessness.
Please consider making a financial donation so we can purchase the supplies we need, at the time we need them.
Ways to help this Christmas
The festive season can be a beautiful time of year to reflect on the people, values, and causes you care the most about.
The biggest difference you can make for people experiencing homelessness and being supported by Hutt St Centre is by making a financial donation.
- Make a donation
- Donate supermarket gift cards (alcohol and tobacco-free, if possible)
Maybe you would like to donate a supermarket gift card for food or personal items we can give to a person or one of the families we know who are struggling at this time. The gift cards will be provided to people through their case worker. You can post a supermarket gift card to: Hutt St Centre Christmas Gift, PO Box 7047, HUTT STREET SA 5000
Bulk food items for the Dining Room
Hutt St Centre does accept bulk quantities of products for our Dining Room, when these items meet our service delivery requirements. These donations typically come from manufacturers, suppliers, and/or distributors that can package and provide the items in bulk.
If you are a food manufacturer, supplier or distributor and have bulk items to donate, please call 8418 2500 and ask to speak with Peter. Items cannot be accepted without arranging in advance.
If you are unable to accept my donation, can you recommend any other organisations?
There are many wonderful organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness, poverty and disadvantage, please find below some suggestions. We recommend contacting them directly to check their situation on accepting donations under the current COVID-19 health guidelines.
