Donate goods

Hutt St Centre couldn’t do what we do without our generous supporters.

Thank you for your support of people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Material items we gratefully accept are listed below. To respect people’s dignity, provide good quality items, and with consideration to WHS practices.

Please download and complete our Material Items Donation form and return it with your kind donation to our Reception building at 258 Hutt Street, Adelaide SA.

When I was sleeping rough, having access to healthy food, fresh water, and clean clothes at Hutt St meant everything. It reminded me I was human and I deserved care. - AlexWe gratefully accept

  • Adult-sized backpacks
  • New or good quality blankets (thick/woollen) 
  • New sleeping bags, swags
  • New or good quality towels
  • Non-perishable food (in-date only)
  • Metro tickets
  • Gift vouchers (preferably food only / no alcohol)

Pantry food items

Donations of packaged, long-lasting food help ensure people don't go hungry, and their nutritional needs are looked after. We're running low on the following everyday pantry items, and would gratefully accept unopened, in-date donations of the following items:

  • Cereal
  • Canned baked beans
  • Canned spaghetti
  • Instant noodles/ 2 minute noodles
  • Packets or cans of soup
  • Boxes of tea bags
  • Instant coffee
  • Long life milk
  • Packets of crackers and biscuits
  • Bottled water
  • Pre-packaged sugar
  • Tinned tuna

Toiletries and hygiene items

We regularly give out toiletries and hygiene items to help support people’s essential hygiene needs. We appreciate unopened, new donations of the following items:

  • Toothbrushes
  • Small toothpastes
  • Combs and brushes
  • Razors
  • Tampons and pads
  • Roll on deodorant

Skincare and makeup items

We gratefully accept unopened, in-date, new donations of skincare and makeup items. Here are some suggestions of items that are regularly needed:

  • Eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Lip gloss
  • Moisturiser
  • Cleanser/ cleansing wipes

Clothing

We also accept new and good-quality secondhand clothing. Please do not donate anything you would not wear yourself – clothes should be freshly washed and free from rips, odours or stains.


Due to storage constraints, hygiene and safety reasons, there are a number of items we're unable to accept including:

  • Bric-a-brac
  • Electrical items
  • Pre-cooked food
  • Furniture (unless delivery has been pre-arranged)

Furniture donations

We gratefully accept donations of good quality furniture in working order, with no rips, stains or odours. The following furniture items are regularly requested to help people settling into their new homes:

  • Small 2-seater lounges
  • Armchairs
  • Coffee tables/ small TV cabinets
  • Double bed ensemble
  • Queen bed ensemble (please enquire first to ensure we have storage capacity)

Important note: To ensure we have storage capacity available; we are only able to accept furniture donations that have been arranged in advance.

To enquire about donating furniture, please contact our Storeperson on 0406 297 965 (8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday) or email help@huttstcentre.org.au in advance of delivering the item to Hutt St Centre.

Natalie - donated food bulk goodsBulk food items for the Dining Room

Hutt St Centre does accept bulk quantities of produce for our Dining Room, when these items meet our service delivery requirements. These donations typically come from manufacturers, suppliers, and/or distributors that can package and provide the items in bulk.

There are some food items that we regularly need, and gratefully accept as donations:

  • Bottled water
  • Jars or tins of instant coffee (bulk sizes preferable)
  • Pre-packaged sugar

If you are a food manufacturer, supplier or distributor and have bulk items to donate, please call (08) 8418 2500 and ask to speak with our Kitchen Manager. Items cannot be accepted without arranging in advance.

Delivery details

Thank you kindly for supporting people experiencing homelessness. We appreciate your generous donation but unfortunately, we are unable to collect donated items.

Please download and complete our Material Items Donation form and return it with your kind donation to our Reception building at 258 Hutt Street, Adelaide SA.

Donation delivery times are between 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.

For larger donations, please contact our Storeperson in advance on 0406 297 965 (8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday) to arrange a delivery time.

If you are unable to accept my donation, can you recommend any other organisations?

There are many wonderful organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness, poverty and disadvantage, please find below some suggestions. We recommend contacting them directly to check their situation on accepting donations under the current COVID-19 health guidelines.
