At Hutt St Centre, our community's kindness and compassion inspire us every day. Meet Belinda and Louise, sisters who have been dedicated Angel For a Day participants since 2012. Their heartwarming family tradition of giving is inspired by their parents, Mollie and Laurie, who volunteered at Hutt St Centre for over 35 years.
The Angel For a Day program is a heartwarming initiative that helps provide nourishing meals to people in need. With a generous donation of $350, participants can volunteer their time in the kitchen, serving meals and ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen for an entire day, experiencing the impact of their contribution firsthand.
For Belinda and Louise, Angel For a Day is a special way of honouring their parents.
“After Mum and Dad passed away, participating in Angel for a Day became our link with Hutt St. We choose to book on their birthdays as a nice way of remembering them" - Louise
Belinda and Louise play an active role in helping Kitchen Manager Pete with breakfast preparations, from buttering toast to serving meals and washing dishes. However, it's the genuine moments of connection they share with the clients that truly warm their hearts and make their volunteer experience even more meaningful.
“You'll love it. You'll get so much out of the experience. I think everyone in Adelaide should do Angel For a Day, it's so rewarding." - Belinda
Belinda and Louise now volunteer with their niece and nephew, passing on their family's longstanding commitment to compassionate service.
Thank you to Belinda, Louise, and our community for ensuring that Hutt St Centre can continue to provide essential services to people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Your kindness carries on a legacy of care and compassion.

Moved by her daughter's commitment to our cause, Brenda generously donated over fifty of her cosy, hand-knit beanies to provide comfort...
