Christmas cheer, warm welcomes and full bellies - your support helped more people than ever before on Christmas Day!
Thank you so much for your generous support last Christmas. For many, 2023 was an incredibly tough year, but your kindness ensured that people in our community were not alone, and hungry, at Christmas.
For people experiencing homelessness, Christmas can be a particularly tough time of year, filled with isolation. And, given that many of the people who walk through our doors have lost everything, the chance to find a warm welcome and a fresh start is a life-changing gift.
Over the holiday period, Hutt St Centre experienced a surge in demand for our services, especially on Christmas Day.
But thanks to your ongoing and generous support – and the help of our amazing volunteers – people experiencing homelessness received a special Christmas full of warmth, kindness, and care.
We hosted a Christmas Day breakfast of croissants and coffee, followed by a traditional lunch, which included ham, turkey, prawns and all the festive trimmings! The Centre was decorated with Christmas cheer, and tables were set with bonbons, stockings and gifts for each person, generously donated by our community of supporters.
Your kind support means we were able to come together and share the sense of belonging we all deserve.
Thank you for making the festive season brighter and happier for people doing it tough.
