Hutt St Centre

You're providing comfort and relief to weary feet

To be homeless means a daily struggle to simply find shelter, warmth and food. Many walk miles for these necessities, wearing ill-fitting shoes which, in turn, may lead to poor foot health.

But thanks to your support and the generosity of volunteers from the Australian Podiatry Association and Walking Tall, a podiatry pop-up clinic at Hutt St Centre has brought comfort and relief to more than 40 people living on the streets.

The clinic provides professional assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation plans. Free, perfectly fitting new shoes are also provided to protect weary feet.

Fred* cannot remember the last time he had a pair of shoes that fit. He normally wears whatever he can find in op shops, regardless of their size or condition.

“I don’t have a car or a bike and don’t feel safe on public transport, so I walk everywhere. I even walked from the city to Port Adelaide and back for an appointment last week.

It was great to get fitted for a sturdy pair of shoes that are the right fit for me. They even gave me socks as well!” - Fred

The podiatry pop up clinic is one of more than 25 services that regularly visit Hutt St Centre, providing everything from haircuts to dental care.

These services can make a huge difference to someone without a permanent home and your generosity makes this possible.
