Hutt St Centre

You made Christmas so much brighter

Christmas can be a painful time for people facing homelessness. But thanks to your generosity, Hutt St Centre was able to make Christmas brighter for many people. You helped our clients feel supported and connected, and joyful.

One such person was George*. George was going to be alone on Christmas Day, so his Hutt St Centre social worker put together a bundle of food, a wrapped Christmas gift, and even arranged phone credit so he could call loved ones on the day.

George left us a message later that day, saying,

"Thank you very much for everything today, I really appreciate it so much. Have a Merry Christmas and once again thank you so very much with all my heart".

Because of your support, Hutt St Centre was able to offer festive activities throughout December. We organised a trip to see the Lobethal Lights, we went cherry picking at Marble Hill, our Art Group made Christmas cards, and we put on a wonderful Christmas lunch for our Aged City Living clients.

These activities provide more than just a social outing. They are a way for us to give meaningful support, and help people reach their long-term goal of independence.

Christmas Day itself at Hutt St was a dignified and joyful celebration, complete with a traditional Christmas meal and presents for everyone.

A huge thank you to all our supporters who made this possible, and to the incredibly generous volunteers and staff who gave up their Christmas Day to spend time at Hutt St Centre.
