Hutt St Centre

Daniel's Day Surgery, a great start to the year

This January, Daniel*, a long-time visitor of Hutt St Centre, came to our RDNS Day Centre nurse with concern for an abnormal lump on his head. On examination, it was determined that the lesion would need to be surgically removed. As Daniel could not afford the treatment, nor wait for public health care, his situation was worrying.

With the support of RDNS SA in our Day Centre, and our close relationship with the Calvary Wakefield Hospital, we were able to advocate for Daniel to receive day surgery treatment to have the lesion removed.

Extraordinarily, just three days later, pro bono day surgery was arranged and provided by Dr. Henry Hancock at the Calvary Wakefield Hospital for this important surgery.

Daniel graciously expressed his gratitude for the treatment, and we at Hutt St Centre are so thankful to Calvary Wakefield Hospital.

We are also very thankful to all our supporters for the ongoing generosity that enables our Day Centre to provide essential and professional services to people experiencing homelessness in Adelaide.

With your support, we can continue to provide support to people like Daniel.
