Hutt St Centre

A dream fulfilled, because of your kindness

JordanFor more nights than he can count, Jordan* has either lived on the streets or camped on a couch. Much of his life has been spent battling - first due to the end of his parent’s marriage, then domestic violence at the hands of his father and most recently, a relationship breakdown with his girlfriend.

Without a permanent home and family support, Jordan has struggled with self-esteem. Now in his early 30s, battling depression and anxiety has had a massive impact. He simply couldn’t see a future for himself until he came to Hutt St Centre.

With his Case Manager by his side, Jordan confided his lifelong dream to join the Australian Defence Force – and has turned his life around.

After gaining the confidence to apply for share housing, he connected with our Pathways to Employment program for training opportunities. Jordan secured his white card to work in the construction industry, then enrolled to study Australian Defence Force preparation Maths and English at TAFE as well as training with the South Australian State Emergency Service.

“There’s hope for me yet!” he said brightly on a recent visit to Hutt St. What an incredible outcome for a young man with his whole life ahead of him, thanks to the support of people like you.
