Soup Kitchen returns to East end Cellars

Posted by Hutt St Centre on 2023-06-27

Here's some souperb news! This week, our friends at East End Cellars are warming things up with the launch of their fifth annual Winter Soup Kitchen.

The initiative invites prominent South Australian chefs and businesses to cook up hearty soups and raise funds for people seeking help at Hutt St Centre and Catherine House.

Over 6 weeks, consommé professionals from the state’s top restaurants will don an apron and take over the East End Cellars kitchen to serve up gourmet signature soups.

And this urgent support couldn’t come at a better time.

More people than ever have been walking through our doors here at Hutt St Centre, with the cost of living, lack of affordable housing and interest rate rises creating a perfect storm for increased homelessness.

This winter, Hutt St Centre will support an average of 150 people at risk of or experiencing homelessness each day. In particular, since last winter, we’ve seen a 24% rise in the number of women coming to us for urgent health and wellbeing services, like healthy meals, hot showers, laundry facilities, and health check-ups.

It’s thanks to our generous community that we can be here for people doing it tough when they need us most. Every day, we’re bowled over by your kindness!

So if you’re searching for a heart-warming way to show your soupport this winter, mark these dates in your calendar:

  • 29 June: Simon Bryant – Hutt St Centre Ambassador
  • 6 July: Clare Falzon – Hentley Farm
  • 13 July: Duncan Welgemoed – Africola
  • 20 July: Jamie Laing – Magill Estate Restaurant
