CEO News - June

Posted by Hutt St Centre on 2016-06-15

It's a busy time of year here at Hutt St Centre...

With winter upon us, more and more people are in need of assistance, warmth and a decent meal. And as things get busier, I'm constantly reminded of the importance of people like you in our efforts to support Adelaide's homeless community.

There are some exciting projects on the go this year, including the development of a Social Impact Bond, which could be a game-changer in Hutt St Centre's ability to support South Australia's homeless population. It would enable us to significantly expand some of our key programs in the coming years - particularly the Pathways Program - which helps to connect adults experiencing homelessness with employment and education opportunities.

In its first year the Pathways Program has helped 78 people successfully enter employment, and this year that number is set to increase to almost 100 people. It's proving to be a crucial program that can ultimately help more people pave their way out of homelessness sooner.

I look forward to updating you in the year ahead as our services continue to grow. While growth is on the horizon, at the end of the day Hutt St Centre will always be a grassroots organisation, built on
kindness, compassion and respect for every individual's dignity, regardless of his or her circumstances.

It warms my heart when I realise how much compassion and goodwill exists right here in Adelaide, so please accept my huge thanks as we enter the busiest months of the year. Any extra support you can give will be deeply appreciated.

Warm regards,

Ian Cox, Chief Executive Officer
