Hutt St Centre

CEO News - March

Posted by Hutt St Centre on 2016-03-15

A big thanks to all for thinking of Hutt St Centre over the Christmas period. Whilst most of us enjoyed a break through January, there was no rest for our staff and volunteers on the frontline.

2016 will be an exciting year for Hutt St Centre. We are looking forward to continuing the development of our Social Impact Bond which is progressing nicely, while our programs on the ground can continue to grow. We were chuffed to see last year we were not only achieving our targets for people exiting homelessness, but also doubling them in many cases.

We are grateful that we can help those who come through our doors in times of need.

Mostly Hutt St Centre is a no frills business: meals and a place to store worldly possessions, though it can also be a place to simply enjoy a conversation over coffee. It’s easy to forget the luxury of company, but you can imagine how important these moments are for some of our clients who may spend days without speaking to anyone. We certainly pride ourselves on just getting the job done. I want to leave you with a comment recently made by one of our clients.

“I am now living in a unit and enrolled in a Social Work degree. I want to let people know how much you helped my journey. You see so many people at the Centre but Hutt St Centre made me see that I was worthy and deserving of happiness again.”

Regards,

Ian Cox, Chief Executive Officer.
